Nuss Truck & Equipment Honored with Outstanding Philanthropic Organization Award
Rochester, MN – Nuss Truck & Equipment, a family-owned company based in Rochester, has been awarded the Outstanding Philanthropic Organization Award for 2024 by the Southern Minnesota Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). This prestigious recognition honors Nuss Truck & Equipment for its unwavering commitment to giving back to the communities in which it operates.
Founded by Bob Nuss and continued by his sons, Brad and Greg, the company has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to a wide array of charitable causes over the past 25 years. Nuss Truck & Equipment’s philanthropy has focused on organizations that directly support community welfare, including the Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch, the Salvation Army, the Channel One Regional Food Bank, and the SPARK Children’s Museum among many others.
One of the unique aspects of Nuss Truck & Equipment’s philanthropic approach is its deep involvement of employees across various locations. Through a Donor Advised Fund with the Rochester Area Foundation, the company has contributed over $500,000 to 86 nonprofit organizations in just the last four years alone. This includes empowering employees to actively engage in charitable giving. We assign $200 to every employee to give to charities in each of the markets that we have branches. The employees have a committee at each branch that picks 3 – 5 charities in their market.
Bob Nuss, the founder, has always viewed philanthropy as a natural part of running a successful business. As he reflects on the company’s charitable work, Bob explains, “We believe that the money we have, we really only have temporary custody of it. It’s not about owning it, but how we share it with the community. If we can make a small difference, that’s rewarding for us as a family and for our employees.”
Nuss Truck & Equipment has fostered a culture of giving that has inspired many other businesses and individuals in Southern Minnesota. As a leader in philanthropy, Bob Nuss has shared his insights in local forums such as Coffee and Conversation discussions, where he encourages others to embrace charitable giving as part of their business model.
On November 12, 2024, Nuss Truck & Equipment will be recognized at the 20th Annual Awards for Philanthropy Luncheon, part of the National Philanthropy Day observance. The event will be held at the Rochester Golf and Country Club.
Nuss Truck & Equipment’s ongoing support has made a meaningful impact, and the company remains dedicated to inspiring future generations to continue this legacy of giving.
