Nuss Brings Electric Truck Sales to the Midwest
Local Company Becomes First in the Midwest to be EV Certified for Mack and Volvo Electric Trucks

Roseville, MN – Last month Nuss Truck & Equipment became the first dealership in the Midwest, and the only dealership in Minnesota, to achieve EV Certification. Now equipped and certified to sell and service electric trucks, this historic and intentional move comes from a third-generation, family-owned company that has long been taking strides to reduce energy consumption and get more energy-efficient vehicles on the road. “The industry is clearly moving toward electrification to reduce emissions and improve air quality, and we are pleased to be a partner with Mack and Volvo in this endeavor,” said Bob Nuss, president of Nuss Truck & Equipment.
A long-time dealer of Mack and Volvo heavy-duty vehicles, Nuss is now selling both Mack LR Electric refuse trucks and Volvo VNR electric trucks. These battery-electric trucks have doubled down on horsepower for increased range with rechargeable batteries and twin electric motors. Designed to capitalize on the continual stops it makes throughout its refuse collection route, the Mack LR Electric features a regenerative braking system that recaptures energy along the way. These innovative trucks offer a more sustainable future for the trucking industry and energy-conscious businesses across the Midwest. “Several customers have expressed interest in the Mack and Volvo Electric Trucks, and we wanted to ensure that we were prepared to support them,” said Bob Nuss.
Nuss Truck & Equipment has nine locations in Minnesota and Wisconsin but prioritized EV Certification at its Roseville, MN location because of its strategic position in the Twin Cities metro area. “We are ideally situated on a major highway in an area with the highest potential for EV truck utilization,” said Greg Nuss, Chief Operating Officer for Nuss Truck & Equipment. “We have made investments in a new state-of-the-art facility, with top-trained staff to ensure that we are ready to assist fleets in the region as they begin their transition to battery-electric trucks.” The Nuss Roseville location now has a dedicated service bay for electric vehicles and four of its twelve master technicians are already EV Certified. The location has also prioritized the availability of common electric truck parts to reduce the amount of time your vehicle is at the shop and get you back on the road.
Becoming EV Certified is a many-tiered process that includes infrastructure changes and safety, tooling, and training requirements. Nuss Truck & Equipment plans to continue to work towards EV Certification across their nine locations with a goal of being fully certified at all locations within the next six to twelve months. With the demand for electric trucks, the company is uniquely positioned to sell and service these vehicles throughout the midwestern corridor of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
